OUR STAFF – THE MANAGEMENT TEAM The nursery is under the Directorship of Elizabeth Gallacher who opened Heriot Hill in 1995. Liz is a former primary teacher with a Post Graduate Qualification in Early Education and has been in the childcare business for 19 years. The Nursery Manager is Charlie Wardill who joined Heriot Hill in 2003. Charlie is a qualified and experienced Nursery Nurse and was one of the first people in Scotland to obtain her SVQ 4 in Nursery Management. Her Deputy is Carol McVicar who is a qualified and experienced Nursery Nurse who has two young children of her own. Carol joined the nursery 14 years ago. Joyce Kane, the Nursery Administrator has also been with the nursery for 14 years. Joyce is an experienced administrator who has completed various Sage training courses and financial training. |
| The remainder of the staff comprise of qualified Nursery Nurses or Nursery Assistants working towards their qualification. All our staff are either qualified or in training and we are very fortunate to have a very low rate of staff turnover. Our staff also undertake regular training sessions to update their skills. It will reassure parents to know that all staff have been cleared through Disclosure Scotland and from this year all staff will have to register with the Scottish Services Social Council. Rab, our handyman is also a regular fixture in the nursery, as is Viola our cleaner and Stewart, our gardener, all of whom are worth their weight in gold. |
